  • DSA involved in Early Support Project
Early Support is a partnership project involving the Department for Education and Skills, the Department of Health, SureStart and the voluntary sector. It is aimed at giving disabled children the best start in life, by supporting families through the provision of information and advice on their child’s development. The Down’s Syndrome Association has been involved in developing two resources “Down’s Syndrome – Information for Parents”, a general information booklet about Down’s syndrome and has, most recently, been part of a working group designing a “Developmental Journal for Babies and Children with Down’s Syndrome” – a booklet covering a child’s development from birth to age 5 (focusing specifically on the developmental profile of children with Down’s syndrome. This Journal is due to be launched in the Autumn of 2006.

  • Employment
Of a potential workforce of 15,000 adults with Down’s syndrome in the UK, only 20% will ever have the chance to prove that they are capable of contributing successfully to the nation’s economy. With appropriate training and support, people with Down’s syndrome can and do make a huge contribution to their workplace. The Down’s Syndrome Association wants to give people with Down's syndrome the same choices and chances as the rest of the population. We would like you to help us make this a reality. Please download our booklet for employers to find out more about how you can help.
