MAKRO ADOPT DOWN’S SYNDROME ASSOCIATION AS THEIR CHARITY OF THE YEAR
18/03/2005
Wholesale giant, Makro UK, has recently announced its adoption of the Down’s Syndrome Association as its Charity of the Year 2005.
Makro hopes to raise £100,000 for the charity that champions the rights of people with Down’s Syndrome in the United Kingdom. This figure is hoped to be achieved through a combination of Makro employees’ own fundraising and matching by the Company.
Philipp Dautzenberg, Managing Director of Makro UK, had these words to say about the company’s latest philanthropic venture:
"We are looking forward to working with the Down’s Syndrome Association and raising much needed funds for its vital work on behalf of people with Down’s syndrome. The DSA is a relatively small charity and we believe that our fundraising can make a real difference."
William Rippon, Corporate Account Manager for the Down’s Syndrome Association was thrilled with the news. He said:
"We are absolutely delighted to be working with Makro as their Charity of the Year during 2005 and we look forward to an exciting calendar of events. The Down’s Syndrome Association has an operating need of £2 million and so this programme really will have a profound impact on the level of support and outreach we are able to offer people with Down’s syndrome in the UK."
