Danny Mardell Knockout Challenge

24/05/2008

HUGE NEWS!!! THE 2008 IS BOOKED - GET YOUR TEAM TOGETHER AND SIGN UP NOW!

Although the sun didn't shine, nothing could've dampened the spirits of the 32 teams taking part in this year’s challenge. Players and supporters came out in force to make this one of the most fun events EVER!!!

The tournament kicked off at 10am with the teams raring to go, after a tough 4 hours of group stages, the 32 were whittled down to sixteen as we broke for lunch. This gave the DSA FFC Team the chance to show off their silky skills against the not so skilful Walford Boys Club who lost every one of their three matches. This turned out to be four as the Fulham team smashed the boys 18-3...

As the knock out stages kicked off, things began to get more competitive with one of the favourites, the high flying Casuals (22 scored in 3 games) losing on penalties to Hatfield FC. We moved swiftly into the quarter finals and semis where Hatfield FC went head to head with the unbeaten Non-League Journeymen and Morton Casuals took on the Galacticos (get well soon Gavin!).

The semis were a tough fought contest with the Non-League Journeymen and Morton Casuals battling their way into the final.

After a quick break and a fantastic show from the Olympian Tigers, the finalists were ready in the tunnel for battle to commence... The Non-League Journeymen came out on top winning 3-0 with a goal of the month contender from little Gavin stealing the show.

We'd like to thank all teams listed below and everyone that came out to support the event. If you'd like to be part of next year's challenge, call Lex now on email . To see photos of this year's event, please visit www.event-photos.co.uk.
