Long time DSA supporter and TV celebrity Craig Phillips has announced he will make a donation to the DSA if he wins the Channel5 TV show 'Back to Reality'.
An open letter from Craig to the DSA: When I won “Big Brother 1” back in 2000, I was recognised for donating my winnings of £70,000 towards Joanne Harris, a Down’s Syndrome friend who requires a life saving heart and lung operation in America. Following this win, it put me in a prime position to help charities including The Down’s Syndrome Association, from which I took great pleasure and within the next few weeks, I may be in the position to do again on a large scale. I have carried out fundraising work for numerous charities including The Down’s Syndrome Association in the past and I would love to help you again, not only with time but also with a lump sum of money and by raising the profile of your charity via the media. You may be aware of a new reality show, “Back to Reality” which is starting Saturday 14th February 2004 on Channel5, you will not as yet be aware though that I am one of the celebrities entering the house. The show is the ultimate reality show featuring 12 celebrities whom have been successful on reality shows such as “Pop Idol”, “Airport”, “Survivor”, “Castaway”, “Fame Academy”, “I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here” and “The Office”. It is also the biggest and highest budgeted show Channel5 has produced to date. Your charity will gain publicity on the Channel5 website as it will list you as one of my designated charities and I will be talking about it when I’m in the house. It will run for 3 weeks and after the first week one celebrity will be voted out each day by the public. The winner, who survives the 3 weeks, will donate all the winnings raised by the money from the phone votes to their designated charity. I have gained immense pleasure from supporting your charity in the past and would be over the moon if I was able to make a difference once again. So this is what I ask; support for support. Over the next few days before I enter the house and for the duration I am in there, if you can create as much awareness and rally for votes from your members, associates, staff and even local press, the more chance I stand of winning and therefore contributing to the fantastic work you do day in day out for such a good cause. Please help me help you make a difference! Craig Phillips
